    Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Biomedical Engineering

The School of Mechanical, Materials, Mechatronic and Biomedical Engineering, which is one of the top Engineering Schools in Australia, is committed to research and teaching excellence through its world-class undergraduate and postgraduate programs in a range of exciting technological areas.

The discipline of Biomedical Engineering has been established with a focus on applying engineering principles, problem solving skills and methodologies to the research and development of novel medical and diagnostic devices including prosthetics, orthotics, assistive and rehabilitation devices and artificial organs, tools, systems and technology that will deliver substantial healthcare benefit and improve the quality of life for individuals. Research expertise based on any of the following sub-fields is highly preferred, in random order:

    Ø Bionics and neuroengineering
    Ø Brain-computer interfaces or brain-machine interfaces,
    Ø Rehabilitation engineering
    Ø Biosensing and instrumentation
    Ø Tissue engineering
    Ø Tissue/cell biomechanics/ mechanotransduction
    Ø Artificial organs and implants
    Ø Musculoskeletal modeling
    Ø Physiological modelling
    Ø Electroceuticals
    Ø Prosthetics and orthotics
Ø Orthopaedic Engineering (especially in orthopaedic biomechanics)

This position will be expected to teach at all levels of the biomedical engineering curriculum including the team-taught introductory engineering subjects and specialised subjects in biomedical engineering depending on the expertise of a successful candidate. Depending on the level of experience, academic leadership and achievements, research and teaching track records of the applications, they will be appointed either as Associate Professor or Professor, and Lecturer or Senior Lecturer.

This position will also establish a vigorous research program that complements and enhances the extensive interdisciplinary engineering network at the University of Wollongong, particularly in the areas of bionics, biomedical technologies, rehabilitation devices, biomaterials, biofabrication, synthetic biosystems, smart materials and structures, robotics, innovative fabrication methodologies and technologies. We are seeking an individual who will potentially not only be the thought leader of their research field, but also bring new momentum and strength to the school of MMMB Engineering, particularly to its discipline of biomedical engineering.

The University is committed to workforce diversity and removing barriers to participation. The University is seeking to increase the representation of women in the academic workforce across science, technology, engineering, mathematics and medical (STEMM) disciplines and encourages suitably qualified candidates to apply.

You will be prompted to respond to the selection criteria as part of the online application process, based on the position description (follow links above).
