The soft robotics program at The Australian Research Council, Centre of Excellence for Electromaterials Science (ACES), www.electromaterials.edu.au) is looking for a highly motivated and ambitious PhD student who is interested in establishing novel sensing concepts, and subsequently fabricating and integrating sensors based on these concepts (e.g, pressure, touch, shear, proximity, slip) into a fully 3D-printed prosthetic hand, ACES/UoW Hand. This PhD project is part of a large project to employ soft robotics and additive manufacturing concepts and technologies in order to establish a novel prosthetic hand with customized design, intuitive control and noninvasive or invasive (e.g, neural interface) sensory feedback features.
