The Department of Biomechanics at the Hospital for Special Surgery has an immediate opening for a Research Engineer. The position involves collaboration with research scientists, biomechanical engineers, and orthopaedic surgeons in experimental and computational research with an emphasis on joint injuries and repair, and reconstructive surgery. The position requires the ability to: work both independently and as a member of a team; manage all aspects of research projects, from inception through to manuscript writing; maintain lab equipment and facilities; and perform data reduction and basic statistical analyses. Experience in mechanical testing, MATLAB programming and a strong linear algebra skill set required. Expertise in computational modeling (FEA or multidody dynamic simulation) an added benefit.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent with biomechanical, biomedical, or related coursework and mechanical testing experience
- MS / MSc / MEng an advantage
