Erdemir Laboratory at the Cleveland Clinic (http://www.lerner.ccf.org/bme/erdemir/) has new positions open in computational biomechanics. We are specifically looking for an entry level research engineer and a post-doctoral researcher. Our activities in open source modeling and simulation, and simulation-based medical innovations span musculoskeletal, cardiovascular, and neurological domains. Our recruits are expected to have exceptional curiosity and an unlimited learning capacity to acquire robust skills while addressing challenging modeling and simulation problems in any of these domains. Interested candidates are encouraged to submit their CV along with a cover letter and contact information for three references to Ahmet Erdemir, erdemira@ccf.org. Review of candidates will start immediately. Desired qualifications are based on anticipated involvement in various activities:
- Relevant degree in engineering, computer science, or any other discipline applicable to mechanics of biological structures, physics-based simulations, and numerical analysis,
- familiarity to computational modeling, in particular the use of finite element analysis and rigid body dynamics simulations,
- familiarity to programming with Python,
- familiarity to use and customize free and open source scientific and engineering software such as SciPy, Slicer, SALOME, etc.,
- familiarity to and compliance with open source development,
- capability to develop scripts for pre-/post-processing of computational models,
- capacity to conduct experimentation on cadaver specimens and on human subjects , and
- capacity to develop manuscripts and presentations for scholarly publishing and visibility.
