We are looking for a full-time academic staff member to expand the expertise within the research team Muscles and Movement and to support the teaching activities in the bachelor programs of the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Leuven Campus Kulak in Kortrijk (Belgium). The Faculty of Medicine at KU Leuven Campus Kulak Kortrijk organizes the bachelor programs in Medicine and Biomedical Sciences and offers an interdisciplinary academic environment with a specific and dynamic campus concept.
Research
You are expected to develop your own research program that is complementary to the existing research initiatives of the research group Muscles and Movement, i.e., biomechanics of the musculoskeletal system, functional and comparative anatomy, tissue-engineering.
Teaching
Your teaching assignment will include several basic courses in the domain of cell biology and cell physiology in the bachelor programs of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences at Campus Kulak Kortrijk. Your teaching duties can change depending on the evolution of the study programmes at Kortrijk Teaching assignments can take up to 50% of your tasks. As a specific element of the educational and pedagogical profile of KU Leuven Campus Kulak Kortrijk, an active interest and professionalization in educational quality, innovation and training is expected. You ensure high-quality education, with a clear commitment for the quality of the program as a whole. A a residing faculty member, you maintain a close contact with the students.
Given that teaching activities will performed in Dutch and that a quick implementation of your teaching activities will be expected, a CEFR degree level C1 for Dutch will be required at the end of the tenure-track period.
Profile
You have a PhD in Sciences or Biomedical Sciences or similarly related degree in Life Sciences of equal quality. You have a strong research profile; the quality of your research is proven by publications in prominent leading journals in the field. You have demonstrable qualities related to academic education. Academic teaching experience, with proven didactic qualities, is an advantage.You possess organizational skills and have a cooperative attitude. You also possess leadership capacities and take initiative. Proficiency in English is required.

In principle, junior researchers are appointed as assistant professor on the tenure track for a period of 5 years; after this period and a positive evaluation, they are permanently appointed (or tenured) as an associate professor.
