  • PhD opening in neuro-mechanical modelling (ERC StG INTERACT) at University of Twente

The Neuromechanical Modelling & Engineering Lab (University of Twente, NL) is seeking for talented and creative candidates for a PhD opening as part of newly funded ERC Starting Grant INTERACT:

PhD position in neuro-mechanical modelling of movement in healthy and post-stroke individuals. Application deadline is set for February 17th, 2019. Please apply via the following link: https://www.utwente.nl/en/organizati...grant-interact

The ERC Starting Grant INTERACT. This project will create radically new neuro-robotic technologies that can interact with human muscles and spinal cord for repairing movement after neuromuscular lesions. The project will develop numerical models of the neuro-musculo-skeletal system that can capture an individual's anatomy as well as how it evolves over time. These models will be used to establish new closed-loop control methods for robotic exoskeletons and spinal cord stimulators. For more information visit: http://bit.ly/NMLab

The Neuromechanical Modelling & Engineering Lab. We investigate the basic neuro-musculo-skeletal mechanisms underlying healthy and impaired human movement. We apply neuro-mechanical modelling and electrophysiological signal processing, in a translational way, to develop real-time bioinspired technologies for restoring natural motor function. Our goal is to establish a unique roadmap for discovering fundamental principles of movement at the interface between humans and wearable robots ultimately for enhancing human health. Our research approach is detailed here.
