  • PhD assistantship in Rehabilitation Sciences, Drexel University, Philadelphia PA

A PhD assistantship position under the mentorship of Clare Milner, PhD, FACSM is available starting Fall 2019 in the Rehabilitation Sciences graduate program within the Department of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Sciences at Drexel University. A competitive stipend with tuition assistance is available. The PhD in Health and Rehabilitation Sciences program is designed to prepare physical therapists and other professionals to be leaders as research scientists and educators in health and rehabilitation sciences.

Candidates with an interest in the use of wearables for mobile monitoring of the biomechanics of lower extremity injury, injury prevention, and rehabilitation are encouraged to apply. More information about Dr Milner’s research interests can be found here: ResearchGate and Google Scholar.

Prior experience working with human subjects in biomechanics laboratory data collection, and graduate training in biomechanics, kinesiology, exercise science, biomedical engineering or a related field is strongly preferred. Experience in professional scientific writing (abstracts, manuscripts) is an advantage.

In particular, candidates with experience and interest in working with sensors for mobile monitoring of movement are encouraged to apply. Approaches to monitoring activities of daily living and gait with a high level of precision are being developed in the lab as a means to improve quality of life, reduce pain, and reduce injury risk.

Interested individuals should contact Clare Milner in the first instance:
