  • Postdoctoral Research position in traumatic brain injury biomechanics

Position summary: The Laksari Lab in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Arizona is seeking a highly motivated post-doctoral candidate to work on translational projects at the intersection of biomechanics and traumatic brain injury. We aim to use a combination of animal modeling, imaging and computational simulations to better understand the mechanisms of injury and to develop diagnostic and interventional approaches.

An important component of this position will be to work as part of an interdisciplinary team spanning engineering, neuroscience, and the medical school. The successful candidate will be required to lead independent research projects, work closely with our medical collaborators, mentor students, and publish high-quality research each year. The position is available to start immediately, initially for 12 months with possibility of renewal for up to three years.

    Required qualifications:
    • Doctoral degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field
    • Strong engineering and experimental background
    • Experience in conducting animal experiments
    • Strong publication track record
    • Strong written and oral English communication skills

    Preferred qualifications:
    • Expertise in brain imaging
    • Experience in finite element and biomechanical modeling
    • Experience in collecting medical imaging data

Outstanding UA benefits include health, dental, vision, and life insurance; paid vacation, sick leave, and holidays; UA/ASU/NAU tuition reduction for the employee and qualified family members; access to UA recreation and cultural activities; and more!
