Postdoc Fellowship - INSPIRE Lab, Harvard Medical School & Spaulding Hospital
A post-doctoral fellowship is available within the INSPIRE lab at Harvard Medical School's Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. This position is funded through active grants from the Department of Defense and NIH to study how humans coordinate muscle activity important for patterned limb movements during overground walking, how this coordination malfunctions, and how a treatment may help restore this coordination in persons with spinal cord injury. Research goals are being addressed through a combination of human experimentation, electrophysiology, biomechanics, and physiological modeling.
The successful candidate will have a strong background in one or more of the following areas: mechanics, neuroscience, rehabilitation, and/or bioengineering. Strong quantitative and experimental skills are required. The position is available for up to two years with an option to renew provided that adequate progress is made and that the project funding is continued.
The work will be conducted in an interdisciplinary research environment composed of physiologists, clinicians, neuroscientists, and biomedical engineers. In addition to the primary research program, there will be a number of opportunities to interact and collaborate with faculty in the Harvard Medical School, MGH, and Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital.
