Research Senior Engineer
JOB SUMMARY
The core responsibility for this position is to solve challenging R&D problems in support of global departments by means of computer simulation including finite element analysis (FEA), morphologic analyses, image analysis and multi-body dynamics/musculoskeletal modelling. The work encompasses supporting the development of new products, the maintenance of existing products, and the execution of research projects.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Performs all phases of computational simulation of product performance, from formulating a protocol through documenting results, in order to address biomechanical simulation needs.
- Designs and drives research projects. Presents the results internally, as well as in international conferences. Identifies opportunities to publish in peer reviewed journals.
- Provides technical assistance to other departments within Zimmer Biomet (Manufacturing, Quality, Regulatory, etc.) for the maintenance of existing products.
- Is involved in improving the efficiency of internal procedures and software resources.

- Must possess an advanced knowledge of engineering, simulation methods and biomechanics.
- Experience with commercial FEA software (ANSYS, Abaqus), patient specific modeling and computer programing (Python/Matlab) is required.
- Experience with other tools relevant to preparing and solving problems in computational biomechanics (e.g., CAD, medical image analysis, machine learning) is desired.
- Knowledge of testing standards related to computational modeling (FDA guidance documents, ASME V&V) is desired.
- Familiarity with software verification and validation is desired.
- Demonstrated ability to methodically investigate and resolve problems.
