During this internship, you will also have an opportunity to:
- Assist with, perform and document mechanical testing (quasi-static, fatigue, impact) of implantable medical devices and instruments; analyze and present test data
- Design and manage fabrication, inspection and documentation of new mechanical test fixtures
- Assist with revision or authoring of new test and inspection procedures
- Attend design review and other cross-functional meetings
- Assist with, perform and document finite element analysis (FEA) on implantable medical devices and instruments (depending on prior FEA experience)
- Assist with biomechanical research studies (experimentation, data analysis/statistics, manuscript writing) as opportunities arise
- Other duties as assigned
Basic Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- In pursuit of 3rd or 4th year of Bachelor’s degree or Graduate level degree in Mechanical Engineering or Biomedical Engineering with strong structural mechanics fundamentals
- Minimum GPA of 3.5 preferred
- Ability to provide college transcripts as well as a letter of recommendation from a faculty member
- Candidates are responsible for their own housing and transportation during the internship
- Must be eligible to work in the United States
- 3D CAD skills required (Creo, SolidWorks, Unigraphics or similar)
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience with mechanical test frames (MTS, Instron) is a plus
- Significant MATLAB, LabVIEW or similar programming experience is a plus
- Prior ANSYS, HyperWorks or ABAQUS finite element software experience is a plus
- Prior co-op internship experience is a plus
- Prior research or medical device/regulated industry experience is a plus
