    Postdoc in Biomechanics, within bone growth mechanobiology

    The School of Engineering Sciences and the Department of Mechanics is offering a postdoctoral position in Biomechanics, with a focus on bone growth mechanobiology.
    Job description
    The project will be carried out in cooperation with the Department of Women’s and Children’s Health at Karolinska Institutet. The aim of the project is to quantify the relationship between mechanical loading and bone growth in growing children, using multiscale numerical modelling based on in vivo and ex vivo experiments. Your areas of responsibility will be to develop a finite element of bone that simulates growth, conduct numerical experiments, help with the physical experiments, perform analyses and validation, and to report findings in highly ranked peer-reviewed journals.
    We seek a candidate with a doctoral degree (PhD), completed in the last three years, in Solid or Computational Mechanics, Engineering Physics, Applied Mathematics, or other appropriate background for this research area, preferably with a specialization in biomechanics. Particularly advantageous merits for this position include documented experience in bone mechanics and modelling of biological tissues, 3D visualization and experimentation.
    Applicants must be strongly motivated for this research area. This position requires ability to work both independently and in a multidisciplinary team. Applicants should thus have a good level of cooperative and communicative abilities, as well as a good ability to write scientific reports in English.
    Great emphasis will be placed on personal qualities and suitability.
