Tenure Track Position in Biomedical Engineering (Biomechanics)

The Department of Biomedical Engineering (BME) at Marquette University invitesapplications for a tenure-track faculty position in the field of Biomechanicsto start August 2019. This position isexpected to be at the assistant professor level; however, exceptionalcandidates for higher rank will also be considered. We seek outstandingcandidates who are developing an internationally recognized research program,and whose teaching will advance Marquette’s educational mission. This new faculty position will grow ourestablished research and educational programs in Biomechanics. The ideal candidate will have earned aPhD in Biomedical Engineering, Biomechanical Engineering or a relatedengineering field. Candidates are expected to develop a strong, externallyfunded research program and to be effective educators at the undergraduate andgraduate levels. Knowledge of BiomechanicalEngineering in the broadly defined area of computational biomechanics,robotics, prosthetics/orthotics and/or finite element methods ispreferred. While not required,experience in orthopaedics, rehabilitation or trauma is welcome.The BME department at Marquette has aclose, collaborative relationship with the MedicalCollege of Wisconsin and offers BS, MS, ME and PhD degrees. The department currently has over 350undergraduate students and 50 graduate students with a 5-year projection ofover 500 students across all degrees with the greatest growth in Master’s andPhD disciplines. Strong collaborative programs are in place with theDepartments of Orthopaedic Surgery, Neurosurgery, and Physical Medicine andRehabilitation which include the Orthopaedic and Rehabilitation EngineeringCenter (OREC), Stroke Rehabilitation Center of Southeastern Wisconsin, andNeuroscience and Biomechanics Research Laboratories at the nearby Clement J. ZablockiVA Medical Center and VehicleCrashworthiness Laboratory. Thesegroups have received national recognition and multiple grant awards for avariety of biomechanical studies.Applications must be submitted online.
