The Department of Health Sciences and Research in the College of Health Professions at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) is seeking a full-time research engineer for immediate hire.
The successful candidate will participate in the conduct of research studies with a focus on neurorehabilitation and biomechanics. Specifically, the candidate will be responsible for data collection, data analysis, programming, and troubleshooting of research equipment. The candidate will be involved with research studies across multiple state-of-the-art laboratories directed by multiple principal investigators, focusing on the investigation of novel assessments and treatments of individuals who have experienced a neurological injury. Particular areas of research interest are stroke recovery (https://education.musc.edu/colleges/health-professions/research/stroke-recovery) and neuromodulation (https://education.musc.edu/colleges/health-professions/research/nc-nm4r).
Requirements: A bachelor’s degree in an engineering field is required. A master’s degree is not required, but could strengthen an application. Comfort working closely with individuals with neurological injuries is required, and experience in a research setting is preferred. Experience with computer programming (ideally LabView and/or Matlab) is preferred. Hands-on experience with electronic and mechanical devices is preferred.
