    The Mechanics of BiologicalMaterials/Structures Laboratory at the University of Texas at San Antonio(UTSA) is seeking to fill a Postdoctoral Research Associate position working ona NIH supported research project. In this five-year research project, we intendto elucidate the effect of proteoglycans on the age-related deterioration ofbone quality and to develop therapeutic strategies for preventing or deterringsuch adverse effect. This position requires a PhD degree in MechanicalEngineering, Biomedical Engineering, Materials Science/Engineering, or aclosely related field and willingness to work in a multidisciplinary(engineering, biology, and physics) environment. The incumbent is expected totake a leading role in implementation of the research project and required tohelp mentor students, publish high impact journal papers, and write grants.Applicants are required to have hands-on experience in characterization ofmechanical/compositional properties of bone or other biological materials. Inaddition, experiences in AFM and finite element simulations are preferred.
