Research Engineer Patient-Specific Implants (MSCA Action) at Materialise, Leuven, BE

For the Marie Sklodowska-Curie Action CURABONE, Materialise is looking for a highly motivated researcher to work in an environment full of revolutionary technology and surrounded by people passionate about their work.
As a Research Engineer, you will have the opportunity to support the development of a new generation of patient-specific pre-operative planning tools. You develop and validate predictive models using advanced modelling techniques such as Finite Element Analysis, MusculoSkeletal Modeling and bone healing. You work closely with internal stakeholders and external partners to understand the problem and to design solutions that meet their needs.

Requirements

• Applicants should have a Master’s degree in engineering (biomedical, mechanical, mathematical or computer sciences) or equivalent.
• You are passionate about innovation in medical 3D printing and have a strong interest in 3D biomechanical modelling (FEA, MusculoSkeletal Modelling). Prior experience in any of these fields is a strong plus.
• You a born problem solver with strong analytical skills and you are ability to work independently with a proactive yet critical mind-set.
• You speak Python or are willing to learn this software language. In addition, you’re also fluent in English, both written and verbal.
• High mobility for international training in Spain and Denmark.

Additional Marie Curie Early Stage Researcher eligibility criteria

• At the time of recruitment by the host organisation, candidates must be in the first four years (full-time equivalent research experience) of their research careers and not yet have been awarded a doctoral degree. This is measured from the date when they obtained the degree which would formally entitle them to embark on a doctorate. They are required to undertake trans-national mobility (i.e. move from one country to another) when taking up their appointment.
• At the time of recruitment by the host organisation, researchers must not have resided or carried out their main activity (work, studies, etc.) in Belgium for more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately prior to the start date. Short stays such as holidays and/or compulsory national service are not taken into account.

This post is available from July 1st 2019 onwards. The candidate should normally start between September 1st and December 1st 2019 and will be offered a full time fixed-term contract for a period of 12,5 months.
