  • Post-doctoral Fellowship in Spine Biomechanical Modelling, UBC, Vancouver Canada

    Do you want to change the way spinal surgeries are conducted? The HCT laboratory and OIBG group at the University of British Columbia are seeking a talented researcher with skills needed for investigating patient-specific biomechanical modelling approaches of the human spine. We aim to create a clinically useful simulation tool that enhances surgical planning. The post-doctoral fellow will work with our industry and academic partners to create, design and empirically evaluate innovative biomechanical models using the Artisynth platform. The ideal Post-doctoral fellow will actively:
    1. Manage and conduct biomechanical modelling research of the spine with an emphasis on people with spinal deformity;
    2. Publish in top-quality journals and conferences;
    3. Develop research funding through grant writing, industrial liaison and other agencies;
    4. Manage the operations of the project with its academic and industrial partners; and,
    5. Participate in the day-to-day operation of the project’s administrative operations to ensure that deadlines are met, resources are used effectively, new opportunities are followed up and expectations are realized including co-supervision of students on the project.

    If you are ready to join our talented group of researchers, please contact Tom Oxland (toxland@mail.ubc.ca) with a curriculum vitae, a statement (1-2 pages) of technical interests and accomplishments, and names and addresses of three referees.
