A post-doctoral research opportunity is available with Dr. Natalie Holt in the Department of Evolution, Ecology and Organismal Biology at the University of California, Riverside. The lab takes a comparative approach to understanding the mechanisms of skeletal muscle contraction, and their implications for locomotor anatomy, physiology and behavior and is seeking candidates with interests in these areas.

The successful applicant will be expected to have a Ph.D. in muscle physiology, biomechanics, or related fields and experience in one or more of the following techniques:

  • in situ and in vitro muscle preparations
  • skinned muscle fibers preparations
  • measurement of heat production in muscle
  • measurement of organismal energetics
