The College of Education and Health Professions at the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville invites nominations and applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Exercise Science in the Department of Health, Human Performance, and Recreation. We are seeking candidates that demonstrate both synergy with existing research strengths on campus and a commitment to promoting diversity and inclusion.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities include: 1) Establish a research agenda capable of securing external funding and publish in peer-reviewed journals, and professional conferences, 2) Teach graduate and undergraduate classes in Exercise Science, 3) Supervise theses, dissertations, and honors projects, 4) Mentor/advise both undergraduate and graduate students, 5) Provide service to the department, college, university, community, and profession.
Required Qualifications: 1) Earned doctorate from an accredited institution in Exercise Science or closely related field conferred by the start of employment, 2) Evidence of refereed publications and presentations, 3) Evidence of effective teaching.
Preferred Qualifications: 1) Post-doctoral or related experience, 2) Potential to secure external funding, 3) Teaching experience at the collegiate level.
Appointment and Salary: This is a 9-month, tenure-track position at the assistant professor rank. The salary will be competitive and commensurate with experience and background. The anticipated start date is August 17, 2020.
The Exercise Science Research Center (ESRC): Located in the Department of Health, Human Performance, and Recreation, the ESRC provides ~7,000 sq. ft. of research space for high-level research. Current areas of research interest include the following: thermoregulation, hydration, and prevention of heat illness, muscle biology and atrophy, biomechanics, cardiovascular health, sport and exercise psychology, physical activity and health, and healthy aging.
