The Rocky Mountain Center for Occupational and Environmental Health (RMCOEH), involving faculty both faculty from the School of Medicine and the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Utah, has an opening for a post-doctoral researcher in the area(s) of exposure science, transportation health and safety, and/or occupational biomechanics. The successful candidate will play a leadership role in several ongoing, multi-disciplinary research projects focused on research in these signature areas. This effort is a component of the current National Institute for Occupational Safety & Health (NIOSH) Education and Research Center (ERC) Targeted Research Training (TRT) grant awarded to the RMCOEH (http://medicine.utah.edu/rmcoeh) and the Department of Family and Preventive Medicine.
The selected candidate will have a doctoral degree in a quantitative science, epidemiology, environmental health, or engineering field, with research experience in one or more of the above signature concentration areas. Preference will be given to candidates that have strong epidemiological experience, laboratory skills (including hands-on experience with aerosol measurement, gas and vapor sampling/analysis, epidemiology, injury prevention, ergonomics, biomechanics, sensor technology, and microfluidics), demonstrated communication skills (written and oral), organizational and time management skills, the ability to work independently and within collaborative teams, and enthusiasm for occupational safety and health.
