The Department of Rehabilitation Sciences at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in Lubbock, Texas, USA anticipates the availability of one or more Ph.D. student assistantship positions in the spring, summer, and fall 2020 semesters. The Ph.D. in Rehabilitation Science program is a face-to-face program that offers concentrations in Movement Sciences and Disorders and Communication Sciences and Disorders. Students who wish to pursue movement sciences will have opportunities to focus on several biomechanics-related areas including gait, postural control, tissue mechanics, clinical anatomy, sensorimotor control, musculoskeletal rehabilitation, spine and extremity dysfunction, pain science, and rehabilitation for human performance. Successful applicants are not required to have a clinical degree but should be passionate about understanding and preventing movement dysfunctions, and reversing potentially-disabling activity limitations caused by these dysfunctions.
The teaching assistantship positions are salaried half-time positions that offer a monthly stipend, tuition reduction, and optional fee waivers for full-time students. Teaching assistants typically are assigned to assist faculty in one or more courses in the Department of Rehabilitation Sciences for which the student is qualified. Prospective teaching assistants must first be admitted to the Ph.D. program, and then will complete a separate employment application.
Applications for admission are now open, and deadlines are October 15 for spring admission, February 1 for summer admission, and March 15 for fall admission.
