The Michigan Medicine Departments of Physical Medicine & Rehab and Mechanical Engineering are looking for a talented and highly motivated post-doctoral fellow with an interest in biomechanics. This National Institutes of Health funded postdoctoral research position in the University of Michigan Biomechanics Research Laboratory will be investigating how the neck muscles and neck-strengthening exercise influence head acceleration, a proxy-measure for concussion risk, in high school athletes.
Applications must have a Ph.D. in Mechanical or Biomedical Engineering, Kinesiology, or an equivalent field. The ideal candidate for this position must have substantial experience in human subjects experiments, a strong work ethic, and a strong ability to work collaboratively within a large research team. Ideal candidates should have excellent independent problem-solving skills and personal motivation. The candidate must also have strong organizational and communication skills.
