Exercise Science Full-Time, Tenure-Track Faculty Position
The Department of Exercise Science and Sport at the University of Scranton is now accepting applications for a nine-month, tenure-track, Assistant Professor position to begin Fall 2020. The successful candidate will teach courses within the Kinesiology (KNES) program including but not limited to Biomechanics in Human Movement, Applied Anatomy and Kinesiology, and Research Methods.
Applicants are expected to have a Ph.D. in kinesiology, biomechanics, or a related field. ABD applicants will be considered at the rank of instructor, with completion expected within 18 months of appointment.
Preferred qualifications include a background in sport biomechanics, experience with motion capture systems, evidence of scholarly research productivity, and previous undergraduate teaching experience. The successful candidate is expected to maintain a productive research agenda in addition to teaching responsibilities and service to the University, local, and professional communities.

The KNES program is the third largest academic program on campus. The curriculum is comprised of four academic tracks: Pre-professional, Applied Kinesiology, Pre-health, and the Accelerated Pre-professional track. The Pre-professional track prepares students for graduate education in allied health professions (Physical Therapy, Physician Assistant, etc.) while the Applied Kinesiology track prepares students for graduate programs or careers in the field of strength and conditioning. The Pre-health track is designed for pre-med students. Edward R. Leahy Jr. Hall, which houses the departments of Exercise Science and Sport, Occupational Therapy and Physical Therapy, opened in August 2015. Spaces for the education of Exercise Science students include the Physiology and Cardio Lab, a Strength Lab, a Human Motion Lab, and a Body Composition Analysis Laboratory. Shared spaces include a Kinesiology and CPR Practice Lab and a Gross Anatomy Laboratory.
