The College of Arts and Sciences at Seattle University invites applications for tenure-track Assistant Professor within the Kinesiology Department. The successful applicant will begin September 1, 2020.
The Department of Kinesiology is a small, interdisciplinary group providing a BS in Exercise Science. The preferred candidate will provide quality evidence-based and experiential teaching across a variety of exercise science topics associated with neuromuscular research including motor control, muscle physiology/mechanics, and research-directed enquiry courses.
We are a collaborative research community; the preferred candidate will complement existing faculty by having applied research expertise/interest across diverse populations. With a new MS in Kinesiology beginning enrolments in Fall 2020, the successful candidate will be responsible for teaching undergraduate and graduate level coursework and supervise research theses at the undergraduate and masterate level; establishing and maintaining an active research agenda; and providing service to the school and university.
Required qualifications include a terminal degree in kinesiology, exercise science, or related field. The successful candidate must demonstrate effective instruction in the area of neuromuscular function/physiology, innovative independent research, interest in collaboration, and workplace collegiality. Proficiency in technologies associated with neuromuscular research are required; previous teaching experience and familiarity with Matlab software and big data analysis are preferred.
