A full-time post-doctoral post is available immediately for two years on a fixed-term basis to support the work of Dr Timothy Holsgrove (https://emps.exeter.ac.uk/engineering/staff/th431).
The successful applicant will be responsible for the development and implementation of a six-axis bioreactor to apply physiological loads to intervertebral disc cultures. This will provide unique opportunities to investigate the coupling of mechanical and biological environments relating to disc degeneration, and in the development, optimisation, and evaluation of regenerative treatments.

- In-vitro and ex-vivo testing of bovine discs
- Electrochemical analysis of disc during loading
- Disc analysis using Raman miscospectroscopy
- Analysis of disc cell viability
- A training secondment with Professor Justin Cooper-White at the University of Queensland
- Dissemination of research results via academic journals and conferences
- Dissemination of research results through industry and public engagement activities
