    The University of Nebraska at Omaha is accepting applications for a Laboratory Technician in the Division of Biomechanics and Research Development.

    This position is a part of the Movement Analysis Core, which is part of the Center of Biomedical Research Excellence (COBRE) grant awarded to the department of Biomechanics at the University of Nebraska Omaha.

    Essential Functions:
    The Lab Technician is a multidisciplinary role that provides assisting in training of new laboratory staff, assisting with human subject’s research, data processing and reporting, laboratory maintenance, and troubleshooting equipment issues.

    The above list of job duties is not exclusive or exhaustive and the incumbent will be required to undertake such tasks as may reasonably be expected within the scope and classification of the position. Job descriptions should be regularly reviewed to ensure they are an accurate representation of the position. Regular attendance is an essential responsibility for all positions.


    Maintain equipment including troubleshooting and normal upkeep of all laboratory devices. Be able to synchronize several pieces of equipment utilized for research and the collections of data. Ability to troubleshoot hardware and software issues. Must be able to Program in Matlab and Visual 3D software as needed. Perform testing and the modifying the fit of assistive devices. Updating laboratory manual and inventory. Maintains equipment software.


    Conduct data collection including recruiting and scheduling subjects, providing subjects with instructions for the study to ensure that all procedures are performed accurately and consistently and other duties regarding data collection as assigned.


    Assist with data processing, analysis and storage to include maintaining backup data. Providing necessary supervision for junior laboratory personnel.


    Submits requests for materials needed to perform maintenance and/or data collection. Other duties as assigned by the PI and/or Director, Assistant Director of the Center for Research in Human Movement and Variability.

    Required Qualifications:
    Experience with conventional motion capture laboratories, and virtual reality environments.


    Bachelor’s in Biomechanics, Neuroscience, Engineering, Computer Science, Kinesiology or related field.


    Will consider an equivalent combination of education and experience
