    Terms & Conditions: The position is funded by the Provost's PhD Project Award (Graduate Studies in Trinity), which fully covers the tuition fee (including both EU and non-EU/International fees) and provides an annual tax-free stipend of €16,000-21,000.

    Post Summary:
    Applications are invited for a motivated and self-driven PhD student with the NeuroMotor Group (Neurophysiology and Neural Signal Analysis Research Strand in the Motor Neuron Research Group), hosted in the Trinity Biomedical Sciences Institute (TBSI)'s Academic Unit of Neurology. The research project for this position seeks to develop a novel methodology and an innovative technology for non-invasive assessment of the spinal cord for neurological diagnosis. It uses a combination of experimental neurophysiological procedures as well as modelling and analysis of neuroelectric signals such as electroencephalographic (EEG), electromyography (EMG), and similar methods. The ideal candidate will have a solid technical/engineering background, i.e. an undergraduate or master's degree in biomedical engineering or a cognate area, with a strong knowledge of (biomedical/neural) signal processing and computer programming (MATLAB). Familiarity with and/or the ability to quickly acquire skills in experimental motor neuroscience and neuro-electro-physiological recordings, would be necessary. The studentship is expected to start in 2020 (preferably from 1 September).
