    PhD scholarship in Medical Implant Technologies (Griffith University, Gold Coat, Australia)

    We are seeking motivated and qualified PhD candidates to work in collaboration with researchers at GCORE to integrate the latest advances in virtual surgical planning, additive manufacturing and personalised digital human simulation to optimise orthopaedic intervention for patients who present with musculoskeletal complaints including paediatric deformity, hip and knee osteoarthritis, femoral acetabular impingement, ACL injury and neuromuscular conditions.

    About GCORE
    The Griffith Centre for Biomedical and Rehabilitation Engineering (GCORE) is a research centre under the Disability and Rehabilitation Program within the Menzies Health Institute Queensland. GCORE represents researchers from Griffith University, several hospitals on the Gold Coast and in Brisbane,and industry stakeholders that are passionate about innovation, research, and education across the ‘Lifecycle’ of orthopaedic and neuromusculoskeletal conditions.

    GCORE is engaged in a wide range of education and community activities, including promoting knowledge and skills exchange, and connecting researchers and clinicians through novel disruptive technologies to engage with the world through innovative advancement in the management of orthopaedic and neuromusculoskeletal conditions. GCORE is closely aligned with Griffith’s Advanced Design and Prototyping Technologies (ADaPT) institute. ADaPT integrates cutting-edge research and development infrastructure to enable advanced design and prototyping and leverages extensive industry expertise. From the latest medical-grade metal 3D printer, to advanced post-fabrication processing, and nano-technology equipment, ADaPT is a high-tech one-stop-shop.

    The Scholarship
    The GCORE Scholarship has an annual stipend of $32,304 AUD (fixed) for a period of up to 3.5 years of full-time study. A successful International applicant will also be awarded a Griffith University International Postgraduate Research Scholarship to cover tuition fees for up to 3.5 years.     EoI Process
    Interested applicants are asked to submit an expression of interest(EOI) to Associate Professor Chris Carty at c.carty@griffith.edu.au containing:
    • A brief (1-page maximum) covering letter, describing your background, interests, and why you would be a good candidate for the listed research project,
    • a CV clearly outline any peer-reviewed publications,
    • academic transcripts (providing evidence that you have completed a Bachelor Degree with Class 1 Honours or will be regarded by Griffith Universityas having an equivalent level of attainment in accordance with Schedule One ofthe HDR Scholarship Policy),
    • evidence of English Language proficiency,
    • two relevant references.
