Biomechanics Lab Manager Position in Toyota Sports Performance Center (Los Angeles California)
Job Summary:
Meyer Institute of Sport, located in the Toyota Sports Performance Center in El Segundo CA, is looking for Biomechanics Lab Manager. This manager will work with this elite Los Angeles based rehabilitation and training team to offer biomechanical analysis services to athletes and patients.
The manager will work with the lab director and multidisciplinary team of athlete care professionals to implement and develop biomechanics testing that integrates with current professional, developmental and recreational athlete programs. The director will be proficient in use of the mocap equipment and software; perform data collections and analysis on the clients; deliver biomechanical assessments for sports performance trials; maintain, repair and develop new equipment/tools; maintain all required documents on laboratory procedures; lead monthly laboratory meetings; oversee all day-to-day operations, including scheduling and quality oversight. The manager will also work closely with the Qualisys teams for their Apps division and USC sports science interns.

Ensure that the laboratory’s technical infrastructure (both hardware and software) remains in optimal working order. This includes ensuring that hardware is maintained and that software is up-to-date.
Writes custom software applications when needed.
Assists with data collection for ongoing research studies (Qualisys passive infra-red camera system, force plates, force sensing instrumented treadmill, electromyography, IMUs)
Reduce data to graphical and other formats appropriate for the research question being addressed. Identify new data collection and reduction techniques, and new areas of application for biomechanical analyses; assist with the development of associated new software and protocols for the laboratory.
Technical Skills
Proficiency in matlab, labview, database software, Visual3D, TMM, python and operating systems is a plus. Experience working in a motion analysis laboratory is strongly preferred. Ability and willing to learn entertainment mocap software.
Behavioral Skills
The candidate must demonstrate superior organizational, time management, and communication skills, as well as intellectual independence and initiative. He/she will protect confidential and sensitive athlete and research data with integrity. The ability to work both independently and as part of a team is essential.

Required Qualifications:
- Master of Science or Engineering, specifically Biomechanics/Human Movement Science or related field.
- Knowledge of sports training and performance testing.
- Two or more years of recent related work experience utilizing listed techniques and equipment; extensive sports biomechanics laboratory experience.
- Must have demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills; ability to work independently and multi-task; excellent organizational skills; ability to troubleshoot protocols and equipment.
- Absolute must is to understand and think commercially and how to enhance an athletes’ performance and skills through motion capture.
- Having strong Mocap skills is required, having Qualisys skills and knowledge is a strong benefit.
