    Job Summary

    This position will manage the operations of the new Motion Analysis Laboratory (MAL) at Rady Childrens Hospital San Diego and will work closely with the Physician Director of the Cerebral Palsy Center to coordinate the clinical and research aims of the MAL.
    The MAL Director is responsible for providing supervision, direction, and management of motion analysis lab staff, including the recruitment and training of staff. They are also responsible for developing policies and procedures for motion analysis lab operations. They will function as an independent investigator with complete responsibility for his/her research program and will be expected to establish a strong record of research & scholarship. The role will serve in a leadership role in the interpretation of full-body kinematics and kinetics of gait, running, and other human performance activities. They will be expected to maintain independent extramural funding. They will develop and sustain productive, collaborative relationships within and outside the organization at the national level. They will be expected to participate in hospital or professional service activities and may serve in a leadership capacity in professional organizations.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Terminal degree (i.e., Ph.D., Ed.D., Sc.D.) in bioengineering, biomechanics, kinesiology, exercise science, or related field
    • 3 years of experience
    • Project management experience
    • Strong written and oral communication skills

    Preferred Qualifications

    • 5 years of experience, particularly in managing and leading a clinical motion analysis laboratory with emphasis on pathological gait, upper-extremity motion, and athletic performance
    • Proficiency in software development (i.e, C++, Matlab, Python, R, Visual 3D), motion analysis, electromyography, and mechanical and metabolic energy testing
    • Established reputation for a productive program of research and scholarship supported by a substantial and significant record of publications in high quality journals
