The LA Angels are hiring multiple (1 full-time & 2 part-time) interns to work in their Performance Integration department based in Tempe, Arizona. Positions need to be filled immediately and will conclude December 31, 2020.
Duties Include:
- Work with the Director and Asst. Director of Performance Integration in developing computational models and inquiry to enrich high performance programs and sports medicine
- Assist in player monitoring efforts throughout the competitive season
- Prepare short summaries on key findings including visual representations, description of statistical methods used, statistical assumptions met
- Use common statistical functions that will be used such as ANOVA, ANCOVA, Repeated Measures Analyses, Correlation, Univariate and Multivariate Regressions
- Perform advanced calculations as it relates to learned probability (Bayesian Inference etc.)
- Prepare infographics, or visual of like to describe findings, so that management, coaches, and players without significant prior knowledge of statistics can easily understand conclusions.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years completed of Bachelor’s Degree in fields related to statistics, engineering, computer science, exercise science or a related field with statistics component. Master’s Degree preferred.
- Knowledge of using computer programming software such as R, Python, and SQL
- Evidence of data collection and analysis (empirical research, previous work etc.)
