  • Research Technician UMass Amherst

    We are recruiting a Research Technician in the area of Biomechanics to work on NIH and Industry funded projects. The Research Technician will work in the Kinesiology Department at UMass Amherst (Amherst MA) under Katherine Boyer (Principal Investigator)

    Qualifications
    • B.S or MS (preferred) in Kinesiology, Biomedical or Mechanical Engineering or related field.
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written)
    • Proficient in motion analysis, electromyography and metabolic cost measures
    • Proficient in MatLab or similar programming language and motion analysis software packages such as Visual 3D or similar.
    • Knowledge of basic MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint) and basic applications.
    • Experience with writing and managing IRB protocols (preferred) and conducting human subject’s research
    • Excellent organization skills.
    • Ability to prioritize and complete multiple tasks.
    • Eligible to work in the US.



    Primary job responsibilities
    • Conduct research under the primary direction of the PI and secondary direction of departmental staff and investigators.
    • Conduct patient or healthy volunteer recruitment and scheduling for industry and federally funded studies.
    • Assist with preparation of new Institutional Review Board (IRB) protocol applications.
    • Apply basic statistical knowledge; understand, interpret, and describe complex data by preparing graphs and tables.
    • Participate in the preparation, review, and submission of manuscripts and abstracts for publication.
    • Coordinate scheduling with other members of the research team
    • Participate in the PI’s lab meetings and in monthly meeting with the full research group

    Classification
    This is a temporary (1 year), full-time, non-exempt position.
