The Mobility Lab in the College of Health Sciences at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee has an immediate position open for a Postdoctoral Fellow. This is a position on an NIH R01 grant, “Prediction of Shoulder Injury for Disease Prevention in Children and Adults with Spinal Cord Injury Using Advanced Biomechanical Modeling and Diagnostic Imaging” under the direction of Dr. Brooke A. Slavens. The duration of the position is for one year with possibility of renewal.
Responsibilities Include:
• Data collection at each site with human subject testing with children and adults with spinal cord injury (SCI).
• Data processing and analyses of biomechanics, imaging and outcomes data.
• Periodic presentations for the Mobility Lab.
• Scientific manuscript writing
• Regular communication and bi-weekly meetings with Dr. Slavens and team.
• Occasional travel to Shriners Hospital in Chicago will occur.
• Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
• The position requires a doctoral (PhD) degree in engineering, health sciences, or a related discipline by date of hire.
• Strong background in biomedical engineering, rehabilitation engineering, and/or human movement sciences, with research interest in wheelchair biomechanics
• Good interpersonal and organization skills, and strong communication (oral and written) skills are required.
• Prior experience in a research or lab setting.
Preferred Qualifications
• A broad range of skills in biomedical techniques/instrumentation and preclinical studies.
• Experience working in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.
