This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious Engineering or Science graduate to fast-track their career development as a Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) Associate. The successful candidate will undertake a 24-month collaborative project between NRS Healthcare, a market leading, and award-winning provider of products and services designed to support independent living, and the University of Salford (Schools of Health & Society and Science, Engineering & Environment), whose novel methods for the analysis of walking aid and user stability open up new opportunities for walking aid design and evaluation.
You will work to embed expertise in biomechanics and the measurement of human movement, along with expertise on user device interaction, within the design and development process. As part of this, you will develop new and innovative, evidence-informed walking frames and associated training materials for NRS Healthcare who provide aids and associated services for daily living in the community and currently hold 20 Local Authority contracts.
Based in Leicestershire, but with periods at the University of Salford, you will be supported by NRS staff and the academic team at the University whilst undertaking scientific research work. Working in a commercial company, closely with other staff, you will gain experience of being a key player driving the growth of the business.
NRS Healthcare is fully committed to evidence-based product development with this project enabling NRS to embark on discovering what needs to be done to innovate and secure the future growth of the company. As the majority of products designed by the company are to enhance the mobility/capability of the end user, they look to improve the physical capabilities of the user to achieve tasks that would otherwise not be possible. As a result of this biomechanics focused project, staff will be able to better understand users’ limitations and how best to optimize their capabilities.
The KTP will provide the catalyst to establish biomechanics and user device interaction knowledge within the NRS New Product Development team working closely with the Clinical Team, enabling the development of better rehabilitation aids across the range of product categories.
