  • Graduate (MSc or PhD) positions available in Montreal, Canada

We currently have graduate positions (MSc, PhD) available at the Laboratory of Simulation and Movement Modelling (S2M). The S2M lab is affiliated to the School of Kinesiology and Exercise Science in the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Montreal. The S2M brings together 3 professors as well as approximately 20 students in kinesiology, mechanical and biomedical engineering, physics, and computer science from across Canada and the world.

The current available positions are in the area of biomechanics under the supervision of Philippe C. Dixon. Dr. Dixon’s research focuses on the analysis of human movements, such as walking, using motion capture systems and portable devices in order to improve the health and mobility of populations with musculoskeletal disorders. He is also very active in the application of machine learning techniques for the detection and prediction of events and physiological states as well as in the development of open-source software tools.

We welcome applications from individuals with backgrounds in either human movement science or engineering with strong skills in biomechanics, data analysis, and computer programming. An interest to learn or knowledge of machine learning is a plus.

Students can apply for M.Sc. or PhD in kinesiology at the University of Montréal or the École Polytechnique de Montréal, depending on their profile and background.

The S2M laboratory supports the Université de Montréal's policy on equity for recruitment, particularly for women, people with disabilities, and racialized individual.

If you are interested in applying for this position, please send your cover letter and C.V. to philippe.dixon[AT]umontreal.ca

Requests for an informal discussion providing additional details regarding specific projects are also welcomed.
