MS or PhD Student — Wearable Electronics

Department of Mechanical and Materials Engineering, Smart Materials and Robotics Laboratory, University of Nebraska–Lincoln, Lincoln, NE

A funded graduate research position (M.S. or Ph.D.) is currently available in the Smart Materials and Robotics Laboratory of Dr. Eric Markvicka in the Department of Mechanical & Materials Engineering at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, to develop a wearable electronic skin for biomonitoring. The wearable electronic device will incorporate a range of biosensors for measuring key biological signals including heart rate, blood oxygenation, blood pressure, flow of breath, and gait. The student will work closely with collaborators at the University of Nebraska at Omaha and University of Nebraska Medical Center to validate the wearable device, analyze the data, and complete a small observational human study. The Smart Materials and Robotics Laboratory creates new multifunctional materials to address mechanical mismatches between humans and traditional electronics and machines.
