The Human Systems Lab (www.hslab.org) offers a unique multidisciplinary approach to the investigation of human interaction with transportation and manufacturing application. Its mission is to leverage Human Factors and Engineering data modeling practices for the assessment and design of transportation and manufacturing HMI.
The Human Systems Lab is looking for a full-time Human Factors Research Associate with a start date in Fall 2020. The project goals include measuring driver’s interaction with on-road partially-automated driving systems. The position has a duration of 9 to 12 months depending on the start date, but it may be extended contingent upon available funding.
Main duties and responsibilities
• Support the development of the on-road data collection protocol
• Coordinate and conduct participant recruitment
• Coordinate and conduct on-road data collection
• Support data analysis with R and Matlab
• Support the dissemination of findings via writing of scientific articles, and presentations at scientific conferences
• Collaborate with HSLab’s graduate students
Qualifications (mandatory)
• Completed Master’s Degree in Psychology, Engineering, or Kinesiology with a strong focus in Human Factors
• 5+ driving experience in US or Canada
• Experience with data collection with human subjects
• Past experience in conducting experimental and Human Factors work
• Excellent English skills (written and oral)
• Experience with R or/and Matlab
The HSLab is a successful recipient of research funding, and have active research collaborations with key automotive and manufacturing partners including Atlas Copco, Denso, the Ontario Ministry of Transportation, and Transport Canada.
