  • PhD Positions at George Mason University

    The Ph.D. in Education with a concentration in Kinesiology is designed to prepare the next generation of kinesiology scholars. Students will be prepared with the knowledge, skills, abilities, and attitudes that will enable them to be professional leaders, educators, and researchers of consequence to impact and transform societal health and quality of life across the lifespan in the global community. As Virginia’s largest public research university, EFHP doctoral students at Mason have access to faculty who are internationally renowned researchers and scholars. In addition, George Mason University supports doctoral students in research and other scholarly activities with state-of-the-art laboratory and other research facilities and a robust portfolio of research and academic support services.

    We are currently recruiting and have funding available for Graduate Research Assistantships (GRA) and Graduate Teaching Assistantships (GTA). The KINE faculty research interests are conducted at the Sports Medicine Assessment, Research, and Testing (SMART Lab) in the areas of:
    • Biomechanics
    • Tactical Athlete Performance
    • Research and Implementation of Injury Prevention Programs
    • Wearable Sensors

    For the GTAs, courses to be taught would be at the undergraduate Kinesiology Program.

    Multiple scholarships available, including the Graduate Inclusion and Access (GIA) Scholarship, seeks to support the growth and development of an inclusive and thriving graduate scholar community at George Mason University for First-generation college student. The scholarship application is provided by invitation through the graduate admissions application process. GIA Information is here and application deadlines are:
    • FAFSA submissions (required for scholarship eligibility): January 15th, 2021
    • Scholarship Application: February 1st, 2021
    • Decisions Announced: March 8th, 2021
