    The Sensor Physiotherapy Intervention (SPIN) Research Groupis offering a full-time position (35 hours/week) for 20 months from January 2021 to take a leading role in the delivery of the Early Warning Wearable Devices (EWWD) project.

    The successful candidate will conduct research within the delivery of the programme of work as defined under the EWWD project. In particular, to focus on the applications and extension of extant research outcomes relating to wearable technology, force plates, EMG, and pressure insoles, creating a suite of algorithms to objectively quantify human movement performance in a variety of environments to detect clinically relevant changes, and predict intervention responses. Expertise in hardware, software & real-time data acquisition from various technology including force plates, sensors, EMG, and insole are preferred.

    Knowledge, Skills and Experience
    1. An established expertise and proven portfolio of research and/or relevant industrial experience within at least two of the following research fields:
      1. Human movement analysis and signal processing (especially as applied to gait).
      2. Hardware and software used in biomechanics research, ideally with human subject motion analysis.
      3. Real-time data acquisition from various human movement analysis technology including force plates, foot insole sensor systems, and wearable technology.
    2. Knowledge of current status of research in specialist field.
    3. Proven ability to publish in national high-quality journals and top ranked conferences.
    4. Knowledge and understanding of competitive research funding to be able to develop applications to funding bodies.
    5. Proven competence in programming methods in Matlab, Python, C or similar languages including AI related software
