We are seeking an enthusiastic research assistant to join the Center for Advanced Orthopaedic Studies at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Boston, MA. Our research focuses on musculoskeletal biomechanics, focuses on musculoskeletal biomechanics, with a particular focus on the biomechanics of the spine. We perform observational and biomechanical testing studies in human subjects, as well as computational modeling studies, to understand various factors affecting spine biomechanics, including the effects of aging and disease. Our laboratory uses musculoskeletal modeling, biomechanical testing, and imaging techniques such as QCT, DXA, and high-resolution peripheral QCT.
Job Summary: Under the supervision of the principal investigator, perform tests and measures utilizing biomechanics and engineering principles. Primary duties include medical image processing and analysis and creation and application of computational biomechanical models, following established laboratory protocols. Write and follow laboratory protocols, record results, calculate, transcribe, and analyze data using basic statistics. Should be comfortable working with scientific/engineering computing software (e.g. Matlab, Python), and experience with musculoskeletal models (e.g. OpenSim) and image segmentation is desirable. Familiarity with motion analysis systems (optical and/or IMU-based), electromyography, mechanical testing, and/or measurements of bone or tissue properties may also be helpful.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in biomedical engineering, biomechanics, or a related field. Good work ethic, organized, and able to work effectively across multiple projects, both alone and in teams. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Review of applicants will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled. Applications should be submitted online at https://jobs.bidmc.org/job/boston/re...169/3374946320
