Domestic MRes/PhD Scholarship Opportunity with Macquarie University and Vald Performance
    What we are after
We are currently recruiting a domestic (Australia / New Zealand) MRes / PhD Student to work on a project investigating load monitoring and injury risk identification of military personnel using a machine learning approach. The project will have a heavy focus on the use of technology and innovative analysis techniques to inform about physical performance and musculoskeletal injuries.
Candidates with a strong interest or prior experience in load management, sex-differences, machine learning, or injury research are strongly encouraged to apply. Prior experience with physical performance testing, laboratory or field-based data collection, defence / military human research, and / or big data analysis would be advantageous.

    What is being offered
The successful candidate will be provided a scholarship collaboratively funded by Macquarie University and Vald Performance worth $28,597 / year (in 2021, tax exempt for up to 4 years-indexed annually) plus an additional $15,000 / year top-up i.e., ~$43k/yr tax-free.

Please note this is a competitive scholarship and will be awarded to a high-calibre applicant.

    What you need to do
Contact Associate Professor Tim Doyle ( or Dr Jodie Wills ( to discuss this opportunity; please include a brief statement about yourself, including copies of all your academic transcripts, copies of any research outputs, awards you have received, and anything else you feel is relevant to the role.
Applicants must meet Macquarie University requirements for the Master of Research program or direct enrolment in a PhD program (i.e., possess a Masters by research or relevant research experience plus a Masters by coursework). Please get in touch to discuss further.

We would like to have the candidate start early-mid 2021 to coincide with the start of an existing project, but this can be negotiated with the successful applicant. The opportunity will remain open until filled.
