The John C. Wilson, Jr. Motion and Sports Analysis Laboratory at CHLA has been in existence since 1992 and is known as a leader in the field. It is one of only 14 nationally accredited laboratories and the only accredited laboratory in California. The work done in the lab is both clinical and research oriented. We serve ~400 patients per year, including gait analysis, sports analysis and research subjects. We are continuing to expand and innovate motion analysis to better serve our communities, including a portable motion capture system and wearable devices. As the Motion Laboratory Engineer you would be integral to our laboratory’s ability to continue to grow and prosper. You will have the opportunity for growth and innovation along with serving our current populations.

Position Summary: The Motion Lab Engineer is responsible for all technical aspects of clinical and research operations performed by the motion analysis laboratory. Independently manages all hardware and software utilized by the motion analysis laboratory including the development of custom software. Directly supervises all data collection and data processing on clinical and research patients. Manages all clinical and research databases. Develops and manages the quality assurance programs for all motion lab equipment. Participates in the development of research ideas and proposals, data collection and analysis and presentation of results. Maintains all equipment and documentation to meet JCAHO and CMLA, Inc. accreditation requirements.
Minimum Qualifications: 2+ years’ experience in computer programming required. Experience in Motion Analysis Laboratory preferred.
Education/Licensure/Certifications: Graduation from an accredited school of engineering with a B.S. degree in electrical, mechanical, biomedical or other related types of engineering. Master’s degree preferred.
