JOB DESCRIPTION:
Epic Sports Biomechanics is offering an opportunity for a highly motivated individual to join our team as a Performance Specialist Intern. The qualified individual will be involved in using our group’s state of the art technologies, including full-scale motion capture, to collect, process, and analyze athlete data sets. This position will also involve hands-on work with our clients during their training programs, skill assessments, and physical assessments. The qualified applicant can also expect to be involved in off-sight team assessments and business development engagements. A biomechanics, kinesiology, biomedical engineering (or other similar engineering discipline), athletic training, and/or strength & conditioning background would be advantageous, as would prior experience playing or coaching any of our primary sports (baseball, softball, golf, cycling, lacrosse, and soccer). A working knowledge of high-speed cameras (i.e. Edgertronic), ball flight technologies (i.e. Rapsodo, HitTrax, Trackman, etc.), motion capture and IMU sensor technologies would also be helpful.
DESIRED APPLICANT CHARACTERISTICS:

PROGRAM TIME PERIOD:
This is a paid internship program with a flexible starting date, although positions are available as soon as possible. The performance of interns will be evaluated on an individual basis. Exceptional interns will be considered for available full-time roles or program extensions. Such positions are not guaranteed. The program end date is also flexible but suggested to occur on or around September 1, 2021.

DESIRED APPLICANT CHARACTERISTICS:
- A passionate self-driven and inquisitive personality focused on pushing the limits of sports biomechanics research
- A strong background in engineering concepts, statistical analyses, and coding (Matlab, R, Python, etc.)
- Well organized with prior experience collecting and analyzing large data sets
- Prior experience or a strong working knowledge of our primary sports such as baseball and softball
- Strong verbal communication skills with the ability to deliver high-level concepts to those with little or no engineering background
- A self-starter who is naturally inquisitive, possesses the ability to initiate research, and think through projects and problems independently
- A problem solver that often prioritizes the solution so highly that they find themselves negotiating obstacles in their spare time
- A passion for finding and analyzing objective scientific data to understand the movement patterns of elite athletic performance
- Prioritizes long term athletic development and injury mitigation over short term gains
- Capably throws batting practice and/or can long toss with our athletes
- Occasional evening and weekend hours
- Perform general athletic activities such as catching and throwing medicine balls (4 to 10 lbs)
- Demonstrate various warmup, cool down, and corrective exercises
- Climbing ladders
- Lifting and carrying 10 to 50 pounds
