  • Postdoctoral researcher in biomechanics of swimming in fishes, Tufts University

Postdoctoral researcher in biomechanics of swimming in fishes
1 year appointment (start date negotiable between May and September, 2021)

Postdoctoral researcher to finalize the last year of a NSF-funded project at Tufts University in Medford, MA to study the interaction of body stiffness and body shape in swimming fishes. The project will integrate experimental measurements of body stiffness and swimming performance from several species of swimming fish. The goal is to quantify individual differences in body mechanics and test whether those differences contribute to differences in preferred swimming kinematics. Experiments may take place at Tufts University in Medford, MA, or at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution in Woods Hole, MA. A strong quantitative background with coding experience is critical. The selected candidate with serve as a mentor to undergraduate and graduate students and may also participate in a funded outreach program with the Boston Museum of Science. Support is only guaranteed for one year.
