Postdoctoral Fellow in Spine Biomechanics (Boston, MA, USA)
The Center for Advanced Orthopaedic Studies at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and Harvard Medical School is seeking a postdoctoral fellow to participate in ongoing research projects evaluating in vivo spine motion and loading using motion analysis and musculoskeletal modeling techniques. Particular areas of interest include development of improved and clinically feasible methods to evaluate spine motion and loading, examining the effects of patient-specific factors (e.g. demographics, anthropometrics, body composition) and extrinsic factors (e.g. loading scenarios, back support exo-suits), and understanding the associations between spinal loading and risk of injury in various populations.
Duties may include: development and validation of musculoskeletal models; measurement and analysis of movement in human subjects; subject-specific modeling and analysis based on in vivo measurements; creating and implementing efficient methods for creating subject-specific models based on clinical characteristics and/or imaging data; perform sensitivity studies and parametric analyses. The fellow will be expected to prepare and submit manuscripts for publication, present study results at scientific meetings, and prepare grant applications.
Qualifications:
The position is available to begin immediately. The initial appointment will be for 1 year with the possibility of extension.

Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in biomedical engineering, biomechanics, kinesiology, or a similar relevant field
- Demonstrated expertise in biomechanical modeling and human movement analysis
- Competitive candidates might also have experience with any of the following:
- Image analysis
- Machine learning
- Injury biomechanics
- Human factors / ergonomics
- Strong programming skills (e.g. Matlab, Python, statistical packages)
- Excellent writing and oral presentation skills
- Able to work independently and with interdisciplinary teams
