The multidisciplinary team of engineers, scientists and biologists at the Steadman Philippon Research Institute (SPRI) work side-by-side with surgeons and therapists to conduct research for improving the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of orthopaedic disorders, funded by grants from the NIH and the Department of Defense as well as industry and philanthropy. SPRI is looking for a motivated, talented engineer to perform research in our exceptionally well-equipped Biomotion laboratory, which includes equipment for dynamic stereoradiographic imaging, an 18-camera video-motion analysis system, a dual-belt instrumented treadmill, 4 force plates and a new indoor golf biomechanics facility. Wearable sensor systems for EMG, plantar pressure and whole-body kinematics enable research outside of the lab, including a snow sports safety research program conducted on the ski slope (walking distance from the lab). SPRI is located in the beautiful mountain town of Vail, Colorado - a great place to work and play!
The Biomotion Research Engineer will be engaged in the full spectrum of research activities, including project planning and design, proposal writing, instrumentation and algorithm development, data collection, data processing/analysis, manuscript drafting and submission, and preparation of manuscripts and conference abstracts/posters/presentations. Current research includes knee/ACL injury, osteoarthritis and disorders of the shoulder, hip, knee and ankle with a strong focus on regenerative medicine.
