We are excited to call for applications for a fully funded PhD scholarship to work on a project aimed at evaluating the potential of wearable robotic technology to restore walking ability and community ambulation after stroke. The selected candidate will work on: (i) neuromechanical modelling of hemiparetic gait and a methodology for personalization of robotic assistance; (ii) development of a low-profile, flexible, and lightweight wearable robotic exoskeleton for assist-as-needed walking; and (iii) studies to evaluate the feasibility of this approach in clinical rehabilitation. The PhD will be aligned with a program of research that includes both local and international collaborations with the following researchers: Dr Alejandro Melendez-Calderon (UQ), Dr Dominic Farris (Exeter), Dr Taylor Dick (UQ), and Dr Camila Shirota (Griffith).
The University of Queensland PhD Scholarship covers an annual stipend (tax free, indexed annually) for a period of up to 3.5 years of full-time study and a tuition fee waiver.
