Content and goals of the research project:
Strength training is widespread in elite and recreational sport as well as sport for health. However, at a scientific level the relationship between the biomechanics of the musculoskeletal system and the effect of strength training is unclear. Accordingly, there is a widespread lack of efficiency and risk of injury. This SNSF project at the SFISM serves to develop and validate biomechanical computer models and mobile measurement methods for the individual optimisation of strength training in the sports and leisure environment. On the basis of the latest level of expertise we will 1) continue to develop subject-specific biomechanical computer models, 2) advance the mobile measurement of training volumes and muscular fatigue using the Apple Watch, and 3) validate the new measurement methods and algorithms in a scientific manner.
