Performance Science Biomechanics Assistant, New York Yankees

The New York Yankees Player Development Complex, located in Tampa FL.
Role
The Performance Science Biomechanics Assistant will gain hands-on experience of sports biomechanics research in a high performance baseball setting. The primary responsibilities of the Biomechanics Assistant will be to assist in data collection and processing of a variety of biomechanics projects and technologies. The Assistant will gain knowledge on how the biomechanics influences and impacts player development and performance in the New York Yankees organization.

Compensation
Performance Science Biomechanics Assistants for the Performance Science Department at the New York Yankee Player Development Complex will be part-time employees with an hourly rate of $15 per hour for a maximum of 30 hours per week.
Starting Date

The primary responsibilities of the Biomechanics Assistant will be to assist in data collection and processing of a variety of biomechanics projects and technologies. The Assistant will gain knowledge on how the biomechanics influences and impacts player development and performance in the New York Yankees organization.
Responsibilities
- Assist with all aspects of the Performance Science Department with regards to collection, input, analysis and interpretation of data to inform the organization.
- Collect, process and analyze biomechanical data in programs such as Vicon Nexus, Visual 3D and your preferred programming language.
- Assist in preparation of coach and player facing research reports based on findings.
- Must be eligible to work in the United States.
- Recently graduated or close to graduating from a graduate-level degree in Biomechanics, Bioengineering, Kinesiology or Neuroscience.
- Experience collecting and analyzing 3D Motion Capture data (e.g., Marker-based, markerless, IMUs) on human subjects.
- Programming experience (eg., Matlab, SQL, R, Python).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to create engaging relationships with coaches, medical staff, performance science staff and players to effectively communicate information.
- Attention to detail in planning, organization and execution of tasks.
- Demonstration of creativity and initiative – always looking to improve performance and processes while also displaying a willingness to be detail oriented.
- Must be available to work up to 30 hours per week.
- Ability to arrange transportation to the Yankees Player Development Complex in Tampa, FL.
