Job Opening for Research Engineer in Biomechanics: A permanent full-time job is available immediately for a research engineer (RE) in the Orthopeadic Biomechanics Lab at Victoria Hospital, London, Ontario, Canada (www.lawsonresearch.com) which is affiliated with Western University (www.uwo.ca). The RE should have a bachelor’s or master’s degree in any kind of engineering. The RE should have experience with basic machine shop equipment like drill presses, milling machines, bandsaws, etc. The RE will do computational modeling and design using Solidworks, experimental testing using an Instron machine, statistical data analysis, and journal article writing. The RE will be supervised by a senior biomedical engineer and work with orthopaedic surgeons and university students. The RE’s research projects will include designing, modeling, and stress testing of spines and spine fixation implants, bones and bone facture implants, and new implants made from fiber-reinforced composites and 3D-printed materials.
